Art is my life. When I was a young girl, my
father attended Weber State University and majored in art. He helped me learn
so many things about a world I knew very little of. He walked me through the
Kimble Arts building, guided me through the rooms, had me assist him in his own
works, and inevitably showed me what is now my life and my future.
My
work consists of a variety of influences, decisions, and concepts. I am often
inspired by artists’ that provide a lot of detail or eye catching imagery. I
like having to question rather than being directly given the answer when
looking at other artists’ work. I will often, as most other artists,
begin with sketches, thumbnails, and digital concepts or forms. I progress my
ideas as they come, and nurture them until they are fully developed. I truly
enjoy this stage, but often have difficulty committing to one design or
concept, causing me to expand on multiple ideas.
Art and Design mean so much
more to me than grades. It’s revealing something inside of myself and allowing
those around me to see.The works provided are mostly in class assignments. They
began with technical studies and were expanded into book covers, logos, etc. I
personally enjoy having open perimeters. Being given an idea or concept and
allowing the rest to free flow gives me the freedom to express my thoughts and
expand on my own ideas. As I progress in my University level courses, I intend
to create works that are rare. I want to perfect my technical skills and create
unique works that have my own distinctive flare. I know that there will always
be room to improve, grow, and reach full potential. I have not come close to
unlocking my mind or skills. I am prepared to step forward into the BFA program
and fully envelop myself in all aspects. I am determined to succeed and learn.
I want to improve myself and my craft.
